As we commemorate Labor Day, the Bangsamoro Human Rights Commission (BHRC) recognizes the indispensable role of workers in our society. We affirm the importance of labor rights as an essential part of human rights.

As the independent human rights institution of the Bangsamoro, we reiterate our commitment to advocating for the rights of workers, particularly those who are vulnerable to exploitation and discrimination.
In the fulfillment of human rights, we encourage all stakeholders to work towards the realization of fundamental rights for workers, including their right to decent working conditions, fair wages and benefits, safe working environments, the right to form and join unions, and their right to organize and bargain collectively.

Moreover, we emphasize on an important hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) which states: “Give the worker his wages before his sweat dries” (Ibn Majah, Hadith: 2443). This hadith emphasizes the importance of prompt and fair compensation for workers and highlights the ethical dimension of labor rights.
Indeed, upholding labor rights is crucial in promoting social justice and building a more inclusive and equitable Bangsamoro society.
