The Bangsamoro Human Rights Commission is the independent institution of the Bangsamoro created under Section 7, Article IX of Republic Act No. 11054, otherwise known as the “Bangsamoro Organic Law of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao” and was further operationalized by the Bangsamoro Autonomy Act No. 4, otherwise known as the “Bangsamoro Human Rights Act of 2019.

As the human rights institution of the Bangsamoro, the Bangsamoro Human Rights Commission is mandated to promote and protect human rights and, during armed conflict, uphold international humanitarian law. 

The Commission conducts regular education and training for the promotion of human rights with the objective of informing all people of their rights including the redress mechanisms in case of violation and abuse and inculcating upon them the human rights of others and their corresponding responsibilities in the promotion and protection thereof.

In the protection of Human Rights, the Commission conducts jail visitation regularly, provides financial and legal assistance to qualified beneficiaries, and ensures the empowerment of the human rights of every Bangsamoro through various programs and activities.
