Mandated to promote, protect and fulfill human rights, the Bangsamoro Human Rights Commission (BHRC) conducted its β€œREBUILDING LIVES: DELIVERING FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO THE FAMILIES OF THE KABACAN MASSACRE VICTIMS” on August 29, 2023 in BHRC SGA, North Cotabato & Cotabato City Office. This is to commemorate the killing of nine unarmed Moro men in the town of Kabacan, North Cotabato three years ago.

The program was graced by the BHRC Chairperson Atty. Abdul Rashid P. Kalim who answered questions raised by the different media organizations during the press conference. Atty. Kalim reiterated that the Bangsamoro Human Rights Commission will keep on reaching out to Bangsamoro people and communities who are residing outside the territorial jurisdiction of the BARMM.

Commissioner Archie U. Buaya, MPA, also mentioned that the work of Bangsamoro Human Rights Commission is a continuing Jihad of the modern Bangsamoro professionals. Moreover, the Head of the Protection Division, Atty. Mumar Ali G. Succor stated that the delivered financial assistance serves as a remedial and supplementary for the economic support of the victim’s family.

To emphasize, under the Bangsamoro Autonomy Act No. 4, also known as the β€œBangsamoro Human Rights Act of 2019”, the Commission shall extend, in the course or as a result of the investigation, financial and/or legal assistance to the victims of human rights violations and abuses whose complaints have been given due course thereby.
