The Bangsamoro Human Rights Commission (BHRC) had meetings with SUHAKAM (Human Rights Commission of Malaysia) as the main purpose of the benchmarking visit. The exchange focused on strategies for the promotion and protection of human rights, drawing on SUHAKAM’s vast experience in addressing challenges and advocating for human dignity across Malaysia. This collaboration marks an important step in enhancing BHRC’s capacity to safeguard human rights in the Bangsamoro region.

SUHAKAM covered key topics, including human rights education, media and publication, monitoring mechanisms, promotion of social justice, legal provisions, children’s rights, gender and development, and more. The BHRC BARMM is committed to applying these valuable lessons as we continue to develop policies and frameworks that uphold human rights for all.

Together, moving forward to a sustainable partnership with SUHAKAM in building a future where every individual’s rights are protected and exercised.
