Joining the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, which is observed on 9 August of each year, the Bangsamoro Human Rights Commission – Lanao del Sur Provincial Office conducts the activity “Community-Based Lecture on Indigenous Peoples’ Rights Act” in Balabagan, Lanao del Sur.
The Commission continuously recognizes the purpose of IPRA reaffirming Indigenous Peoplesβ rights to ancestral domains, self-governance and empowerment, social justice and human rights, and rights to cultural identity. To ensure this, our very own Commissioner Archie U. Buaya, MPA, delivered a lecture on Indigenous Peoples’ Rights highlighting the rich history of the IPs and emphasizing their rights to preserve and develop their cultures, traditions and institutions.
We owe the success of this activity to the LGU of Balabagan, Lanao del Sur, who extends to us their warm welcome and for organizing our participants. Same gratitude goes to our Commissioner Archie U. Buaya for imparting to us such meaningful discussions.
